Health related monthly information. Seminars on Diabetes, Cholesterol, Blood
Pressure, Cardiac, Cancer, Medicaid, Medicare, Financial Advisors
Membership is free to participants who are age 55 and above. Benefits of the program include educational sessions that are designed to optimize health and wellness. A newsletter is sent out to participants offering education on diet, medications, and various topics of interest. 55Plus is an extraordinary package of health-related services for adults 55 and older offered by Saunders Medical Center, in conjunction with Bryan LGH Medical Center. Best of all, it costs nothing to join. The benefits of membership include:

To keep you better informed, a complimentary 55PLUS Scene newsletter will be mailed to you every few months to help you get the most out of the 55PLUS program. It will include health-related articles and keep you current on special programs and events offered through your 55PLUS membership.

Kids Club
For all children infants to 12 years old

Kids Club and Safe Kids -Preventing accidental injury.
The PROBLEM: Accidental injury is the number one cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Also, each year one out of every four children needs medical attention for an accidental injury. The most common causes of accidental injury are:
- Motor vehicle crashes, which involve children as passengers, pedestrians and bicyclists
- Drowning
- Fire and burns
- Choking
- Falls
- Poisoning
Student Athletic Trainer Workshop: Every summer a student trainer/manager workshop is conducted through the Kids Club Program at Saunders Medical Center. This workshop is for student trainers, student managers or anyone who has an interest in athletic training, physical therapy or occupational therapy. Students learn to:
- identify basic anatomy of the human body.
- recognize common injuries to the body and emergency first aid treatment of these injuries.
- recognize the signs and symptoms of shock, heat illness and cold exposure injuries and be able to demonstrate the appropriate first aid treatment.
- use tape and braces on different areas of the body to help prevent further injury or re-injury of the body part.

Diabetes Program
Diabetes self-management education is an outpatient service offered as a course or an individual session based upon the needs of the participant.
These educational programs are designed for:
- Individuals wanting to know more about diabetes and diabetes management.
- Individuals who have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, are starting a medication program or balancing diet, exercise, medication and lifestyle.
- Individuals who have had diabetes for years and are interested in new information and/or improved control of their diabetes.
Educational packets include:
- Diabetes self-management
- What is diabetes
- Exercise and diabetes
- Nutrition and diabetes
- Individual sessions
Corporate Wellness
SMC offers a variety of services to local businesses.

The Tobacco Education Group (TEG) . . .is a voluntary program or positive alternative to suspension for those caught using tobacco on school property or at school-sponsored activities.
Program Goals – The main goals of the Tobacco Education Group are:
- To provide basic information on the processes and effects of tobacco use.
- To provide a positive alternative to suspension from schools or diversion programs for the courts.
- To motivate participants to adopt healthier lifestyles.
- To motivate participants to join an ongoing cessation group such as the Tobacco Awareness Program
- To give participants an opportunity to assess their own patterns of use and to consider the eventual effects of such patterns.
